FAQ

What types of hearing tests are available at our center?

We perform tonal and speech audiometry tests as well as comprehension tests in noisy environments. Hearing tests are completely free of charge and without obligation at our center.

At what age should you have your hearing tested?

Hearing can be tested at any age, as soon as there is any doubt.

In adults, it is recommended that a preventive hearing test be carried out from the age of 50, even if there are no particular symptoms, as age-related hearing loss (presbycusis) often develops gradually and goes unnoticed at first.

The earlier the screening, the simpler and more effective the treatment.

Do you need a prescription to take a test?

You do not need a prescription to have a hearing test.

However, a prescription is required if you need a hearing aid.

For your first hearing aid trial, you must consult an ENT doctor, who will write you a prescription if necessary, or a general practitioner who has undergone professional development training in medical otology.

If you need to renew your hearing aid, your primary care physician can provide you with the necessary prescription.

What is the lifespan of a hearing aid?

A hearing aid has an average lifespan of between 5 and 7 years.

A hearing aid can continue to function beyond 7 years, but the device often becomes technologically obsolete.

How much does a hearing aid cost?

The cost of a hearing aid varies depending on the manufacturer and the technological performance of the device. The 100% health device starts at €950 per device. A mid-range device starts at €1,200 per device. A high-end device starts at €1,600 and can go up to €1,900 per device.

How often should you have your appliances checked?

We recommend that you perform an initial check three months after purchasing your equipment, then carry out regular checks every six months.

What does after-sales support include?

At our Audition Masséna center, follow-up care is included in the price of the device and covers all the services needed to ensure the comfort, performance, and longevity of your device.

How long is the guarantiee on the devices?

Hearing aids are guaranteed for 4 years, as are their chargers for rechargeable devices.
